Drawdown Eugene
Lane County Climate Action Plan Updates
Lane County’s “Climate Action Plan Citizen Advisory Committee” has met twice. While meetings thus far are very rules/process focused, we have observed some hopeful signs. The diverse committee includes many perspectives. The initial session showed volunteers with diverse backgrounds and perspectives including indigenous, science, youth, environmental/climate, forest protection, timber industry and social justice organizations.
At this moment the county appears to appreciate the committee’s depth of experience. The question is, will the county ignore their recommendations, like the City of Eugene did with their “advisory” bodies? That’s up to us! To keep the pressure on, don’t miss the December meeting on zoom. Tune in for yourself. You can listen or make comments.

350 Eugene Ads Published in the Eugene Register Guard
Thank you to our supporters who have showed up to city council online to speak up about the Northwest Natural Franchise Agreement and action on the Climate Action Plan. We are excited to share two recent educational ads in response to Northwest Natural’s recent pro-fracking propaganda in the Register Guard. Read it for yourself, and contact local decision-makers to share your thoughts.

Drawdown Eugene
350 Eugene’s Drawdown campaign works for local climate solutions. Over the past two years, we have focused on following and influencing the city’s process to revise our Climate Action Plan (CAP). The process has been slow, tortuous and to date has not produced the strong, comprehensive plan that we need. The first draft was released in the fall of 2019, and 350 Eugene immediately called it out as a Plan to Fail.
Mayor Lucy Vinis reconvened the Mayor’s Climate Ad Hoc Committee in March 2020, “to provide guidance on how to modify the Draft CAP2.0 and to provide input on additional actions to add to the plan to fully meet the CRO goals”.
350 Eugene has a representative on this committee (Linda Heyl), and we have been active in giving input, pushing to strengthen the CAP’s content and design. There are recent signs of improvement, but we’re not there yet!
Add you name to the Drawdown mailing list to receive status updates about what has improved and what still needs to be done. Let’s continue raising our voices for a CAP that will achieve Eugene’s goals!
